9:45 to 10:45 am Education Session #2 - Hospitality Industry: Challenges and Opportunities (1.2 CPE credits in Management Services available)
Even in a robust economic climate, the hospitality/tourism industry faces unique challenges. Fierce competition, a fluid workforce and changing consumer tastes make it difficult to consistently maintain profitability and growth. Distress can arise quickly and requires fast and decisive action. This panel examines the principal forces causing these challenges, the options that exist in the current environment, and the creative solutions that successful operators have used to address them.
11:00 am to 12:00 pm Education Session #3 - What's Brewing? (1.2 CPE credits in Specialized Knowledge available)
Craft brewing is a growing industry across much of the U.S.; competition in this industry is increasing and many consolidations are occurring. Our panel of experts will address regulatory and capital challenges facing craft brewers, including:
- Specific legal, financing, operational, and distribution challenges.
- What makes a craft brewer a likely candidate for financing or a good old fashioned turnaround?
- What makes a craft brewer a winner for financing purposes?
- Exploring what makes a brewery successful in the long-term.
- Unique considerations in the operational and financial turnaround of breweries.
The current economic expansion will be ten years old in June of 2019, at which point it will become the longest in the post-war era. This session will cover the current state of the U.S. economy and the factors driving the current expansion. Economists frequently note that expansions do not die of old age, but rather heart attacks. So, we will also cover the risks in the current environment, including slower growth overseas, policy uncertainly (especially around trade), and other relevant factors.
